With OEM lead times continuing to create challenges for locomotive maintenance operations, MPRC developed a complete GE 7FDL water pump rebuild solution focused on quality, reliability, and availability. The 150X1069-3 kit gives rebuilders the critical components needed for a consistent water pump overhaul, all from a single source.

Below you will find exactly what is in the kit, the engineering changes behind the mechanical seal, and the endurance testing that backs it up.

What’s in the 150X1069-3 Kit

Every seal, bearing, gasket, and piece of hardware for a GE 7FDL water pump overhaul, packed and labeled as one kit.

Sealing

Antimony carbon / RB-silicon carbide seal faces with HNBR elastomers.

  • 125X1088Mechanical seal, 1.625", antimony carbon / SiC / HNBR / 304SS
  • 125X1024-6Radial shaft (oil) seal, water pump
  • 125X1020Slinger, water pump
  • #8300 -225O-rings, HNBR (qty 2)

Bearings & Hardware

Premium Timken bearings to hold shaft alignment and protect the seal.

  • 125X1079Ball bearing, GE water pump (Timken)
  • 125X1026Ball bearing, GE water pump (Timken)
  • 125X1081Metal sleeve
  • 8864959P112Lock washer, water pump assembly

Gaskets

Cut from MPRC 7800 gasket material.

  • 115X1217-2Gasket, #7800 1/32", water pump
  • 115X1213Gasket, #7800 1/32"

Install gaskets dry: do not use silicone RTV, oil, or anti-seize on gaskets. Lubricate O-rings for easier installation. Need an installation-only kit instead? See the GE water pump installation kit (150X1070) on our GE locomotive kits page.

An Upgraded Mechanical Seal

Most of the development work went into the seal, with one goal: better durability and reliability in demanding locomotive water pump service.

  • Seal faces selected and engineered to resist chipping and cracking from impact and vibration.
  • Face combination offers improved performance during brief dry-running conditions.
  • HNBR boot absorbs impact and vibration and holds up to both low temperatures and sustained hot-water exposure.
  • Drive-pin system transfers shaft rotation positively and consistently to the rotating face.
  • Separate anti-rotation pins keep the stationary face secure under higher loads and extended operation.

Tested for Performance

A GE 7FDL water pump rebuilt with MPRC components completed a 100-hour endurance test.

  • 100 continuous hours at 1,100 RPM.
  • No measurable or failing seepage observed.
  • Consistent water temperature of approximately 180°F throughout.
  • Built to reduce premature leakage, improve rebuild consistency, and minimize locomotive downtime.

Quality Without the Long Lead Time

Premium materials, proven component manufacturers, and short lead times keep water pump rebuilds moving for railroads, repair facilities, rebuilders, and distributors.
